Basement update

Major work done on the basement… we painted the walls (again)… the color didn’t quite match up to what it was supposed to be the first round . Away with the baby blue, and now we have a brown/gray/purple thing going on. Paint looks good against the white ceiling. And I get to show off the bulkhead corners we did.
It’s oooooooo-k.
New paint and a silver screen

Yes, the screen is silver there… we are doing 5 kajillion coats of different color paint to get it looking like a movie screen. Finishing off with white I hope ;)
Big new thing is the carpet! We put in a cream berber The installers did a great job, and it really warms the place up. Still have lots of finish trim (door/window casings, baseboards, built-ins) but that’s later…

What paint did you use for your screen? I’m starting on replacing our fireplace, and i want our projector to project video on the wall. What brand and color paint did you use? Thanks

  • Hey John, The paint was actually 4 different kinds and colors of paint all mixed up together, plus a base coat… and a top coat of translucent. We got the recipe online somewhere I can’t remember. In the end, it didn’t look much different to me than just the primer. I’d suggest reading different forums and hear what others have said.

It cost me over $100 for all the different paints, and personally I didn’t think it was worth it. Try googling “projector screen paint” and you will get a ton of useful information.

    Good luck!
